This week’s blog post is the fifth entry of a six part series showing you the members that comprise Elite Robotics. Recently we’ve expanded our team and wanted to take the opportunity to introduce everyone individually! Today the spotlight is on Jake Herington, Web Content Developer at Elite Robotics.
Read on to learn all about Jake:
How old are you and where are you from originally?
I’m 23 years old and I’m from Newcastle Australia.
Where did you attend University and what did you study?
What led you to consider combining Communications with Computer Science?
As the Web Content Developer, what do your duties consist of?
My main duties include maintaining and updating the company’s website, as well as researching and producing content such as blog entries or videos for distribution across Elite Robotics’ social and business platforms.
What peaked your interest to begin working casually at a startup?
I’ve known Elite Robotics CEO Sahil Harriram for a while and during that time we had always worked well together. I have helped here and there since Elite Robotics’ inception and when the time was right I stepped into a more official role. I’ve always been interested in technology and innovative solutions so it seemed like a perfect fit.
Biggest challenge working for Elite Robotics ?
The biggest challenge for me is to be constantly coming up with new and different ideas for content that our audience will engage with. The robotics industry is very technical, and coming up with ways to present our ideas in way that people can understand as well as find interesting and informative can be very difficult.
What’s your favourite part about working for Elite Robotics?
I really like the idea of working for a company that has big aspirations and wants to change the world. It motivates me to work harder knowing that what I’m doing could affect the lives of people all over the world.
What is one piece of advice you have for uni students/recent uni grads?
Consider going on an exchange program. The experience will completely change your perspective and give you valuable insight into how your field of study operates in another part of the world. Not only that, but the people you meet and the memories you make are ones you will never forget.
When you’re not busy helping Elite Robotics build the future of our cities, what do you do in your free time?
My main hobbies include playing basketball, working out and spending time with my girlfriend.
