Founders Update: CEO Sahil Harriram

Hey everyone! I just wanted to give you a quick update on all the crazy things that have been going on over the last month, wrap up our last quarter and let you know what that means for us as we move forward through the year.

At the start of the year, Doug put some final touches on our small-scale lawnmower to ensure it can cut thicker grass, including some tall weeds (see 0:42). While the system worked and cut grass as we designed it, it wasn’t able to reliably perform object detection at the standard we required. We quickly realised that in order to ensure the system operated safely and reliably we needed to upgrade the system with more suitable sensors and hardware. This is critical for us considering we are an Autonomous Vehicle Technology company and our autonomous system is being designed for applications beyond autonomous lawnmowers. Most of the systems fitted with our Elite Technology Platform, will be large and therefore our platform needs to meet an exceptionally high standard of safety.

If you have been following us since the beginning of the year, you may have seen the progress we have made in upgrading our hardware (LiDAR demo, GPS testing, new mechanical design). We are now at the point of manufacturing the housing for the Elite Technology Platform and are aiming to have that completed within the next month.

Moving forward we have set some aggressive goals for the next quarter, including completing our fully upgraded system (which will feature a brand new navigation algorithm) with our customers. As I have been busy with preparing investment documents and reaching out to investors, I haven’t had as much time as I would have liked to work within the engineering team. After our last quarterly meeting, we decided that we needed to bring on an intern and dedicate more resources to the engineering side of the business to ensure we meet our ambitious targets.

Building a hardware company is a time-consuming and challenging process, probably because there are so many moving parts to it (pun intended). But so far, we have enjoyed the challenge and it feels as though all these little pieces are slowly coming together. We can’t wait for the next few months, so we can share with you all what it’s going to look like.
