AusPost Pitch Fest Recap

Author: Elite Robotics

Last week we had an incredible time in Dubbo for AusPost Regional Pitchfest! We’re so grateful we had this opportunity and we wanted to take the time to reflect on this amazing experience:

This past April, hundreds of entries were submitted to the AusPost Regional Pitchfest competition. We knew our chances of being chosen were slim but we decided to enter anyway, not expecting to be selected. In May the NSW Cohort was announced. Much to our surprise, we were chosen as one of five state finalists! We were extremely excited for this chance as it would give us a platform to showcase our business to a wider audience throughout Australia. Additionally, it gave us an opportunity to win some serious cash that would potentially help us along our journey!

As a precursor to Regional Pitchfest, the NSW Cohort traveled to Melbourne for a Business Growth Immersion Workshop Bootcamp at the end of May. AusPost covered our flights and accommodation in a 5-star hotel (a very cool, first-time experience for us!) During the trip we attended training sessions and clinics to prepare for the upcoming competition in Dubbo. It was very humbling to be in the company of such talented, innovative individuals from across NSW. Attending these workshops in Melbourne at AusPost Headquarters gave us the confidence to believe we can truly build a global company with a lasting impact.

On July 5th we traveled to Dubbo for the state final. That night we got to run through our pitch with Regional Pitchfest Founder, Di Somerville to prepare for competition the next day. On the morning of July 6th we setup our booth in Startup Alley to showcase our latest developments before competing later that day. We gained valuable media coverage and interviews with media outlets, including WIN T.V. That evening we were overwhelmed with the crowd’s reaction after our CEO Sahil Harriram delivered our pitch to a live audience of over seventy people and hundreds more online!

Unfortunately we did not get the end results we were hoping for. However Regional Pitchfest gave us beneficial media attention helping us to build more awareness for our brand throughout Australia and online.

We cannot thank AusPost Regional Pitchfest enough for giving regional entrepreneurs like us the opportunity to pitch to a panel of judges. It provided us with valuable insight into the business world plus access to exclusive resources and awesome networking opportunities. We are so honoured to have been chosen for this incredible program. In addition this experience motivated us even further to put our heads down and continue pushing the development of our autonomous lawnmower. Currently we’re on pace to reveal our prototype in the next few months, stay tuned!
